Ritz Carlton L.A

Located at the epicentre of Los Angeles, the Ritz-Carlton is a luxury hotel at L.A. LIVE featuring world-class service, exceptional dining and distinctive amenities. This opulant property is the perfect destination for a never-to-be-forgotton California g

The Ritz-Carlton hotel name is synonymous with incomparable service, sophisticated style and their downtown property fits that category perfectly. The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE is literaly only steps away from the STAPLES Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, then there is nearby Microsoft Theatre, The GRAMMY® Museum and an amazing array of dining options, as well as six live entertainment venues. As I was soon to find out, the Ritz-Carlton is a contemporary glass architectural structure that soars above the city, a sensational urban oasis providing guests with plenty of entertainment offerings and cultural experiences from food to fashion, art to opera, cinema to sports, a place you can be sure is at the core of all that epitomises downtown Los Angeles.

This boutique hotel features luxurious accommodations, dramatic, panoramic skyline views, relaxing spa services, stimulating nightlife, exclusive access to sports, entertainment, award-winning shows, and world-class cuisine set amidst the spectacular revitalisation of downtown L.A. With convenient access to business, financial, law, cultural and fashion districts, this state-of-the art vision also caters to the discerning business as well as leisure traveller – a truly shimmering, cork-popping champagne experience and place to stay.

Los Angeles Tourism’s catch phrase refers to the downtown district as a ‘City of Cities’, offering distinct and unexpected experiences across a range of diverse neighbourhoods. It had been five years since I last visited and I had been made aware how much things had changed in that short amount of time.

I was booked into a room at the Ritz-Carlton on the 23rd floor, where at one end of a long corridor was the slightly formal Ritz-Carlton ‘Club Lounge’ which offered 180 degree views of the city and beyond to the Hollywood Hills in the distance – this is one very impressive lounge to relax in over a wine and canapés.

The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles not surprisingly offers a range of wonderful dining experiences to suit every occasion, with cuisine crafted to inspire even the most discerning palate—from a casual bite poolside to a luxury inspired dining encounter at the award-winning WP24 Restaurant & Lounge.

There are a number of Ritz-Carlton in-house dining options with the most exclusive dining space positioned 24 floors above the Los Angeles skyline – here sits WP24 by Wolfgang Puck. Surrounded by spectacular panoramic views of the city, diners can wholeheartedly enjoy Wolfgang’s award-winning modern Chinese cuisine that reflects his time spent in the Far East, including his passion for Asian ingredients and cooking techniques. Wine aficionados will also appreciate an extensive list that complements the flavours of the menu. In addition, the beverage menu offers a selection of Asian beers and sakes by the bottle and glass.

Nest at WP24 is a modern take on a lounge experience serving a dedicated menu of Asian-inspired snacks, appetizers and sushi. Culinary offerings include items exclusive to Nest, as well as signature favourites from the WP24 restaurant’s modern Chinese menu, accompanied by a refined wine list and extended menu of craft cocktails.

Ford’s Filling Station from Chef Ben Ford is a nod to sustainable, fresh seasonal cuisine in a setting that celebrates good quality food in a comfortable, inviting way. This elevated gastropub in the Ritz-Carlton serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. So fill up on all the good things in life.

Espressamente Illy is a very authentic Italian-style café focused on coffee and light gastronomy. Designed with a modern and innovative look, offering customers a unique experience designed by Luca Trazzi.

Illy’s trademark colours of silver, red and white, express a sleek, fresh and contemporary atmosphere. Illy food embodies the excellence of Italian cuisine, combining fresh, high-quality ingredients with the creative flare of the all the many excellent chefs who create each recipe.

The Ritz-Carlton is also a Los Angeles hotel to make oneself, shall we say, ‘red carpet ready’ by indulging in a luxury spa experience. In this urban oasis, their spa features the ultimate in pampering, from a signature Champagne welcome to unparallelled personalised service.

With nine treatment rooms that evoke classic Hollywood glamour, the 8,000-square-foot Los Angeles Spa offers carefully chosen services inspired by leading product lines and the abundant natural resources of this Southern California locale. Unwind in the co-ed Sanctuary, private men’s and women’s relaxation rooms or in the eucalyptus steam rooms and cold plunge showers. The Spa also features a signature Couples Suite, a full-service hair salon and Spa Boutique.

For an urban twist on the traditional farm-to-spa experience, The Ritz-Carlton offers the unique ‘Garden to Glamorous’ spa program, featuring treatment ingredients harvested from their own own rooftop garden.

So in future don’t be put off visiting or staying in Los Angeles as this gateway city has great depth of character, superb architecture, some stunning hotels like the Ritz-Carlton, an outstanding entertainment district, sports arenas, museums and cutting edge restaurants and nightlife that are not that far away from Hollywood’s glitz and glamour or Santa Monica’s golden beaches.
