The Manawatu¯ and Tararua offroad running and walking event is here again this Saturday, August 25.

While online entries closed on August 19, race director Gerry Roux says there will be an opportunity for late entries tomorrow night prior to race day.

People can also register on race morning at the Ferry Reserve off SH3 on the Woodville side of the Manawatu¯ Gorge.

The North Range trio event includes the 50km catchment Ultra which starts at 6.30am, the 25km North Range Traverse at 9am and the 12.5km Hall Block Humdinger at 11am. Gerry says the event will bring people from across the country to the Manawatu¯ .

“It will expose both locals and visiting participants to an area of amazing natural beauty. It is a great introduction to off-road running as the terrain is fairly easy.”

They have qualified medics on the course. They also have a recommended list of gear which may become compulsory if the weather turns stormy.

Runners on the 50km Ultra must be 18 or over, those on the 25km Traverse must be 15 or older, and the 12.5km Humdinger has no age limit, but participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

All races finish at the Ferry Reserve and all finishers receive a hand-crafted medal.

Male and female winners in each race will receive a trophy and there are spot prizes.
