250 singers raise voices for NZ Choral Festival

Manawatu¯ -Whanganui primary and intermedia­te singers came together for the NZ Choral Festival on August 14 for the ‘The Kids’ Sing.

Shona Murray QSM, of Tawa, an acknowledg­ed leader in choral music, was the commentato­r and adjudicato­r for the 250 students in the festival.

Graded choirs awards: gold, Whanganui Intermedia­te School special choir; silver, Palmerston North Intermedia­te Normal School Choir; bronze, Linton Camp Senior Team Choir, St George’s Chapel Choir, Whanganui. Regional awards: best performanc­e of a NZ work: Whanganui Intermedia­te School Special Choir; best choir soloist(s), Palmerston North Intermedia­te Normal School Choir; best choir instrument­alist(s), Bulls School Choir (ukulele group); best stage presentati­on: Whanganui Intermedia­te School Special Choir; Adjudicato­r’s special award, Russell St School Choir.
