250 singers raise voices for NZ Choral Festival
Manawatu¯ -Whanganui primary and intermediate singers came together for the NZ Choral Festival on August 14 for the ‘The Kids’ Sing.
Shona Murray QSM, of Tawa, an acknowledged leader in choral music, was the commentator and adjudicator for the 250 students in the festival.
Graded choirs awards: gold, Whanganui Intermediate School special choir; silver, Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School Choir; bronze, Linton Camp Senior Team Choir, St George’s Chapel Choir, Whanganui. Regional awards: best performance of a NZ work: Whanganui Intermediate School Special Choir; best choir soloist(s), Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School Choir; best choir instrumentalist(s), Bulls School Choir (ukulele group); best stage presentation: Whanganui Intermediate School Special Choir; Adjudicator’s special award, Russell St School Choir.
