Palmerston North Dance Association (PNDA) president Maryanne Mechen said the festival opens on September 28 with the gala event on Monday October 1.

“Come and enjoy the many different dance styles on show featuring classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and tap.

“We have dancers from 12 dance schools in the festival.

Maryanne says the competition covers both solo and group classes and dancers aged from under six years to adults are from across the North Island. Dancers must do four dances each.

“Our patron Sir Jon Trimmer will be attending and available to speak with those who come to the festival.”

The gala event will feature junior, intermediate and senior ballet solo championships, including guest artists.
