Massey alarms

Alarms rang out at Massey University in the midst of a thunder and lightning storm early on Sunday afternoon. The Palmerston North Fire Service received a flood of calls, but the alarms were found to be false. However, people on site at the university were warned to stay clear of the Ring Rd near Kiwitea after a tree came down, blocking the road. The university’s facebook page said buses were restricted to using the Colombo and vet tower stops until the road was cleared.
