Business insight from Ivanka

-

Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka has been an ever-present figure in his presidential campaign.

But aside from supporting her father in politics, the 34-year-old told Business Insider that she was also busy standing on her own two feet in business and representing her own Trump brand.

Along with her brothers, Donald Jr and Eric, Ivanka runs her father’s real estate empire and she also heads the Ivanka Trump lifestyle brand.

Through that brand she aims to inspire women with online articles and promotes her clothing, jewellery and accessories designed for young professional women.

In the interview, she said the content she has created has been ‘‘resonating strongly’’ and she is proud of a brand that is ‘‘creating incredible content to empower and inspire this next generation of working women’’.

Working in a family business was complex but she had the good fortune of working with two accomplished, smart and capable brothers, she said.

She described her father as ‘‘an amazing leader’’, who inspired people to work hard to achieve his bold business goals.

‘‘He’s taught me a tremendous amount on how to be an inspiring leader,’’ she told Business Insider.

Despite her father’s influence, Ivanka made it clear she was her own person.

‘‘My father has created an enormous business and he’s created an enormous brand for himself, and I’m contributing to the business that he’s built every day at The Trump Organization,’’ she told Business Insider.

‘‘But I’ve also built my own business, and obviously it’s a brand that I’ve built and it’s wholly owned by me.’’

Of her own leadership style, Ivanka said she also set bold goals and is someone who expects high performance.

In staff, she looked for optimistic selfstarters who saw opportunities in challenges; people who were ambitious, engaged and respectful. She said hiring great people was one of the most important things to do to help a business grow.
