Manawatu homes in top 100

- PAUL MITCHELL

Five Manawatu homes are considered among the best of the country’s new houses, making it into the top 100 builds of the 2016 Registered Master Builders’ House of the Year.

The competition aims to recognise quality craftsmanship across the residential building sector, from cost-effective builds right through to luxury homes worth over $2 million.

The Manawatu homes had all won their categories in the Manawatu-whanganui-east Coast regional final in July.

Palmerston North builders Cavalier Homes Manawatu and Avenue Construction each took a category with work done on Palmerston North Homes.

Fowler Homes took two categories, with a home in the city and a Feilding home worth over $1 million.

Marton-based Richards Construction also made the finals with a Marton home styled after the owner’s old farmhouse.

Registered Master Builders chief executive David Kelly said there were many unique features and innovative designs between the finalists.

Kelly said excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail would help ensure better homes and workplaces, and ultimately more comfortable lives for New Zealanders.

National winners will announced in November. be
