on the beach and enjoy the water,’’ Velvin said.

‘‘It’s about being able to get them down to the water’s edge across the soft sand and wheel them into the water if you want to.’’

The Halberg Disability Sport Foundation helped fund the chair which arrived at the perfect time, he said.

‘‘It’s an early Christmas present for several of our members.’’

Velvin said it was pretty exciting to be able to provide the chair for members because the club asked so much from its volunteers.

‘‘I think it’s just a great thing to have and I think some of the kids who use it will get huge enjoyment out of it.’’

Club members Corry and Lisa Andrews have used the chair for their 6-year-old son, Byron, who has a chromosomal deletion and epilepsy.

‘‘It’s awesome. We are down here a lot,’’ Corry, who helps out coaching juniors at the club, said.

‘‘We all love the beach,’’ Lisa said.

‘‘It means we can all get down here as a family.’’

Lisa described the chair as the best Christmas present ever.

Committee member Emma Crofskey, whose 5-year-old son George has a rare genetic condition that had delayed his development, said having the chair would be great.

‘‘That’s what it is all about, getting the whole family involved,’’ Crofskey said.

‘‘It’s great and it’s just so nice to see the families so stoked.’’
