The symbol displayed in Saturday’s Manawatu Standard belongs above the door to Palmerston North’s Theosophical Hall, across the road from the police station in Church St, where it stands alongside a cluster of the city’s heritage buildings. The Theosophical Hall was built in 1924 in the Edwardian Baroque style. As well as holding significant cultural values, the building has the distinction of being the first in the city designed to use electricity.
