The Manawatu girls team was winless after three days of the national under-17 softball tournament at Colquhoun Park. After two losses on the first day on Thursday, Manawatu lost 11-4 to Tairawhiti (Gisborne) and 8-0 to Counties Manukau on Friday. On Saturday they lost 14-0 to Auckland B. The Manawatu boys team at Pukekohe had fared a little better. After two losses on the opening day, Manawatu lost to Hutt Valley 9-2 on Friday, then beat Otago 10-9, before losing to Wellington 11-0. On Saturday they lost to Hawke’s Bay 15-1 and Counties Manukau B 7-0. Playoff games for both boys and girls were to be held yesterday.
