One-sided action in pennants
It was another lop-sided round of the Manawatu-wanganui club pennants competition at Palmerston North on Sunday.
After two rounds, four teams have had two wins and four have had none.
On Sunday Manawatu shot to the top of the table on points differential after they thrashed Tawhero 11-1.
Tawhero, who were whipped 12-0 by Taihape last week, at least managed to get one win in the foursomes, where Joshua Geerling and Sam Kauika beat Dave Tarrant and Micah Bremner 6 and 5.
Otherwise it was one-way traffic for Manawatu, who won the foursomes 3-1 and the singles 8-0.
Riki Kauika gave Manawatu No 1 Greg Shaw a good battle at No 1, which Shaw won 2 and 1, but there were some big wins for Manawatu down the order, including No 2 Ewan Westergaard winning 7 and 6 over Sam Kauika and Bremner beating Geerling 8 and 6.
Rhys Watkins, Tarrant, Matt Francis, Kirk Brough and Kaleb Idemaru all had wins in the singles too. were also on the receiving end as they lost 11-1 to Mike Brown beat Feilding’s Kyle Russell 4 and 3 in the singles, but
Foxton Feilding.
that was it for Foxton, with Feilding winning the foursomes 4-0 and the singles 7-1.
Mike Atkins, Liam Finlayson, Ben Anderson, Jayden Hunter, Damien Walker, Tony Boxall and Rob Lowry all had singles wins for Feilding.
hot start to the season continued, as they beat 8-4 to find themselves in the rare position of second place.
The foursomes were level 2-all, but then Taihape cleaned up in the singles 6-2.

Nimmo and Ben Cribb all had wins in the singles for Taihape. Barry Shannon and Rick Harding had wins for Wanganui in the singles. In the other game
were too good for 8-4.
Palmerston North won the foursomes 3-1 and the singles 5-3.
Palmerston North’s top two, Junior Tatana and Regan Cording, both had big wins over Shaun Millard 8 and 6 and Reuben Tomane 6 and 5 respectively.
Two of the singles matches were halved, and there were also wins for Tane North and Scott Sutherland.
Peter Bull and Tai Walters had wins for Levin in the singles, while Adrian Burns and Geoff Gutschlag had a win in the foursomes.
