Shadows Cast impresses at Foxton trials
Four year old Shadows Cast looked in good order for up-coming autumn events when he dealt to the likes of open class galloper Balham at yesterday’s Foxton trials.
The Per Incanto gelding bided his time in the early part of his 1200m trial, before unleashing in the straight for a decisive victory.
Trainer at Awapuni by Mark Oulaghan for owner Ron Cunningham, Shadows Cast has shown plenty of class in his early racing and could be in for some good rewards while the summer-like conditions around the centre remain.
Oulaghan finished off a good day at the trials when his nicely bred five-year-old Mastercraftsman mare Moorish fought off another by Per Incanto Stellacanto in the maiden 1200m.
Out of the good race mare Rosetti Bay, Moorish has taken time to find his feet in a number of starts.
In an open 1000m trials, Slimline was impressive. She held off Endure and Durham with the Savabeel mare Goodsav fourth.
The second of the 1000m open heats went to Joby over Hutch and Darscape Princess. Joby is with Bryce Newman at Bulls while Hutch is one of three Woodville owner-trainer Neil Connors had at the trials.
