Food and drink vendors are ready to satisfy the tastebuds of thousands of people flocking to the Central Districts Field Days in Manawatu.

Cheeses, olive oil cherry juice, limoncello and homemade peanut butter are among the delights in store for the hungry and thirsty at Manfeild Park, Feilding.

Anthony Hoppins is bringing his Common Ancestry Brewery to the three-day event for the first time. There will be many types of ales for people to try, but also some familiar fare.

A hot roast caravan has been busy serving food to exhibitors since Monday and will have made many a sale by the time the event concludes on Saturday.

‘‘The favourite was steak, but all food was basic and the sort of food you have at home. People like that,’’ stall owner Chris Philpot said.

He said the busiest day would be when most of the ‘‘townies’’ came along, on Saturday.

Food on offer includes that of Thai and Turkish origin, as well as the traditional fries and hot dogs.

And deer farmers have the everpopular venison burger for sale. There are usually queues of people and the stall has been decorated with antlers from sika, red and wapiti deer. The venison for burgers came from Manawatu and Rangitikei farms, and the stall will be looked after by local farmers.

Farmers usually attend the first day, coming from throughout the North Island.
