Success for Sitak
New Zealand’s Artem Sitak has struck good form ahead of the Davis Cup tennis tie against Korea in just under two weeks by claiming the doubles title at the Guadalajara Challenger in Mexico yesterday. Sitak, ranked 55th in the world, and Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez beat Australian fourth seeds Luke Saville and Johnpatrick Smith 6-3 1-6 10-5 in the final. Earlier, Sitak and Gonzalez won their semifinal against Sweden’s Johan Brunstrom and Andreas Siljestrom 6-3 4-6 10-2. The result was another promising sign for the New Zealand Davis Cup team ahead of the encounter with Korea, after Marcus Daniell claimed a doubles title in Texas last week.
