Indulgence, pampering and advice at expo

- KIRSTY LAWRENCE

Thousands of women — and a few men — got a lesson in women’s health and wellbeing while indulging in some sweet treats and pampering over the weekend.

At least 9000 women turned out for the 2017 Women’s Lifestyle Expo at Palmerston North’s Central Energy Trust Arena, where more than 140 local and national exhibitors enticed shoppers to try something new or spice up their look.

Organiser Renee Murray said the arena was packed on Saturday and the flow of people was steady on Sunday. ‘‘So we are very, very happy.’’ This year they had changed the layout of the event to try and allow more room and also got extra stalls in.

She would not know the total number of women who came through until Monday, but guessed it was at least 9000.

Murray said even with online shopping available, women still wanted the hands-on shopping experience.

‘‘I think sometimes people like to talk to people face-to-face.’’

Expo attendee Amanda Jackson said the expo was ‘‘brilliant’’.

She attended every year and said this year was the best yet.

‘‘They have spaced it out really nicely.’’

Other years it was congested, making it difficult to move around, but the change in layout this year made for a much better shopping experience, she said.

‘‘You can actually look at all the stalls and there are lots of different stalls.’’

Jackson said the Taste Success meal plan stall was her favourite, offering personally tailored meal plans.

There appeared to be an increase in health-related stalls, which was was good to see, she said.

Alison Lawrence echoed Jackson’s sentiment, saying it was nice to see such a wide variety of stalls at the expo this year.
