College steady the ship with comeback victory

- GEORGE HEAGNEY

College Old Girls climbed back into the top four, coming from behind to beat Feilding 50-49 at the Arena on Tuesday night in a scrappy game.

College had been looking good in the premier club netball competition, but dropped their past two games, so they returned to form in a tight win over Feilding.

Feilding will be frustrated about letting their lead slip and when they made a late effort to try and take the lead, errors and turnovers cost them.

Feilding looked good at the start of the game and were up 18-14 at quartertime. But mistakes started creeping in and before you knew it College were level at 23-all, scoring seven unanswered goals at one point, then kicked on to lead 30-26 at halftime.

Kuini Chase and Billie-jean Lambert were the chief disrupters for College in defence and when Feilding were trying to push the passes to catch up, the two College defenders would strike.

Once COG were in the lead they tried to settle things down and consolidate their lead.

Manta Maxwell was in great form back at the shooting end for College after having to play defence last week.

Feilding mounted a late comeback, but there were a couple of crucial turnovers that cost them, but they did manage to get within one goal by the end.

Centre Brenna Romley was one of Feilding’s best, adding come spark on attack, Emma Sharland was good on defence and Kesa

Talka was their best option in the shooting circle.
