Luckless COG draw two weeks in a row

For the second consecutiv­e week College Old Girls were stuck in a draw in Manawatu club netball.

COG finished 51-51 with Feilding A1, a match reflecting their positions of third and fourth respective­ly on the ladder.

Feilding had to come from behind to salvage the points.

They were down 14-11 after the first quarter and slipped one point further back to be behind 28-24 at halftime.

But they picked off two-point advantages in each of the third and fourth quarters to level the scores at the end.

Goalshoot Manta Maxwell took the lion’s share of the shots for COG making 38 of 42.

Kesa Talka, who started the game at goalshoot before moving to goalattack nailed 24 of 29 shoots, while Anania Kerehoma-cook pitched in with 20/24.

At halftime, Feilding A2 would have been sniffing their first win of the year against Rahui.

But they slipped off in the second half to lose 48-38.

Manukura Red came close to upsetting Massey losing 58-54.

A poor second quarter saw Manukura fall behind by 10 at halftime.

But they won the third and fourth quarters, to get within four

points of the win.

Rochelle Fourie was in red hot shooting form nailing 44/47.

Table-toppers Manukura Black eased their way to a 67-40 win over Palmerston North Girls’ High School.

The writing was on the wall after the first quarter with Manukura racing out to a 21-10 lead.
