Skydivers make calendar leap
When 12 tandem masters decided to do something ‘‘totally inappropriate’’ they had no idea their exploits would later be shared far and wide.
Taupo¯ Tandem Skydiving’s (TTS) tandem masters and pilots first stripped down ‘‘for a bit of fun’’ in November, taking photos of their antics in the process.
Little did they know they’d later become calendar models to help Kiwi charities.
‘‘It started off as some fun but we figured a lot of people in the community know them and know who they are,’’ TTS marketing manager Daisy Hylton said.
And so the ‘‘TTS 2018 Totally Inappropriate Calendar’’ was born featuring 12 of the company’s tandem masters semi-naked.
‘‘To coincide with that, we’ve chosen 12 charities for each month of the year to benefit from the funds raised.’’
Over January, the TTS team are encouraging people from the local community to get involved and help raise funds by buying the calendar, donating to a Givealittle page TTS has already set up or raising money on their own Givealittle pages set up for the cause.
All the proceeds from those methods would then be divided among the 12 charities.
As an added incentive, two free 4000m skydives have been put up for the two people who raise the most funds.
The 12 charities chosen all have some meaning to the team at TTS. Some are local ones, others are New Zealandbased ones. They are: Megan’s SDR Dream, The Blue Duck Project, Kidscan, Greening Taupo¯, Boomerang Bags Taupo¯ , Shelter Box NZ, Lake Taupo¯ Hospice, Cameron Wilson Trust, Greenlea Rescue Helicopter, NZ Breast Cancer Foundation, Children’s Autism Foundation, Canteen.
The fundraising will run until January 31.
