❚ BS, I so agree with you, stop blaming the roads. A few years back we were talking to a roading chap who had to redesign a highway and he said ‘they expect me to make roads idiot-proof’, and he was talking about SH1. I so agreed with Jim.

❚ To cut carnage and death on public roads reduce maximum vehicle speed to 80kmh and to 40kmh or less in urban areas. Much safer. A Nervous Wreck

❚ Great to see Ian Mckelvie putting politics aside to support racing. Shame some of his fellow National MPS will go the opposite just for the sake of being in opposition even if they know it’s the right thing to do.

The Manawatu¯ Craft and Food Fair is on at Barber Hall on Saturday. There will be more than 85 stalls with food, jewellery, clothing, decor, skincare and more. It starts at 10am.

This week is Ma¯ori Language Week and the Palmerston North City Library is holding a series of introductory workshops to learn te reo Ma¯ori. They’re on at 12pm on Tuesday through to Thursday.

MOON FESTIVAL

The Palmerston North Chinese community present the Moon Festival show at the Regent on Broadway on Sunday from 6.30pm. The show is the opening ceremony to Chinese Language Week and features Chinese instrument, rhythm and dance performances.
