Lowe ‘world-class’ in win

-

Kiwi wing James Lowe was lauded as a ‘‘world-class’’ talent after bagging a double as Pro 14 champions Leinster beat Irish rivals Munster.

The former Chiefs and Tasman Mako flier was the star in Leinster’s 30-22 win in Dublin yesterday.

Munster’s coach Johann van Graan admitted Lowe was the difference.

‘‘James is one of those worldclass players,’’ van Graan told the Irish Sun.

‘‘You have to shut down his space – but sometimes you have to say well done, and I thought he did very well.

‘‘You’ve got to credit the opposition, we got beaten by the better team.’’

The Irish Times claimed Lowe had profited by ‘‘finishing off two try assists by his Kiwi kindred spirit’’, former Taranaki and Blues halfback Jamison Gibson-park.

Lowe, 26, now has four tries from as many games this season and 15 in 18 matches for Leinster since his switch in 2017.

The personable Kiwi has become a crowd favourite with the Leinster faithful and Leinster’s head coach Leo Cullen was full of praise for his Munster effort.

‘‘James is a handful for defences, he’s very strong in contact. He’s a constant threat,’’ Cullen told the Irish Sun.

‘‘He’s becoming very passionate about the team, which is lovely, it’s what you want.’’
