❚ So, if you don’t like being called Pa¯keha¯ you are racist, according to Joel Maxwell. How does this paper continue to print such racist nonsense from this so-called journalist? (Ed: He is an opinion columnist, not a journalist)

❚ Nice to see some wit in the council chambers, thanks to Cr Lorna Johnson with her superb quote regarding the proposed food waste collection. ‘‘We do not know if there is an appetite for this.’’ Katherine Stannard

❚ Re editing of texts. I know personally they are edited or not published if they are deemed to be politicall­y incorrect.

❚ As a past employee of one of the big banks, we had increasing­ly unrealisti­c targets to sell products to customers. If we didn’t meet these targets, we were told at staff meetings: ‘‘There’s the door, feel free to use it.’’ Humiliatin­g us was a management objective.
