Half an hour – two robberies

- Kirsty Lawrence

A man has been arrested after allegedly robbing two dairies in Levin.

Sergeant David Wilson said police were called to a dairy on Macarthur St in Levin about 9.15am on Monday after reports of an aggravated robbery.

A second report of aggravated robbery at a different dairy on Makomako Rd was received around 9.40am, he said.

Wilson said police attempted to pull over a vehicle of interest travelling on Hokio Beach Rd about 9.50am, but the driver fled.

They pursued the car and a couple of minutes later it crashed into a bridge on Muaupoko St.

The uninjured driver was taken into custody.

Wilson said the 17-yearold man is due to appear in Levin District Court charged with aggravated robbery, demands with intent to kill, failing to stop, and dangerous driving.

He said police wanted to reassure the community there was no further risk now the man had been arrested.
