Ex-president faces sex assault complaints
Until last week Oscar Arias, pictured, was a small man with a towering reputation: Twice elected president of Costa Rica, he stood up to the US and won the Nobel peace prize in 1987. Now he faces multiple allegations of sexual assault which threaten to blacken that reputation. At least five women have accused Arias, 78, of sexual misconduct, including two who have filed criminal complaints against him.
