Parker v Chisora ‘a barnstormer’

-

British boxing great David Haye is predicting ‘‘an absolute barnstormer’’ when heavyweights Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora clash in London.

The fight is yet to be formally announced but Team Parker have accepted the offer for October 26 in a bout that gives the former WBO champion a chance to get back into the world title talk.

Haye, a former world champion himself at heavyweight and cruiserweight, these days manages former foe Chisora.

He believes the power and resilience of Chisora and Parker will produce an exciting fight which he sees his man winning.

‘‘I’m predicting Dereck Chisora to win by a late stoppage. It’ll be an absolute barnstormer,’’ Haye told betfair.com in the UK.

‘‘The styles of these two men gel perfectly and that will make for a cracking contest. Both have shown good punch resistance over the years, they’ve shown they are more than happy to dig deep and put it on the line.

‘‘Joseph Parker hit the canvas for the first time in his career against Dillian Whyte but got back to his feet and rallied to drop his opponent in the 12th round, proving himself to be the real deal. He won a number of new fans that night.’’

Haye feels the 35-year-old Chisora, who has been a professional since 2007 accumulating 31-9 record, can use his experience to get past Parker.

‘‘Dereck has shown over the years, when things aren’t going his way, he can summon up a knockout punch,’’ Haye said.

‘‘He did it against a man with a granite chin in Carlos Takam and he’ll do it again. That punch power means you can never write him off and he’s as dangerous in the last round as he is the first.

‘‘In his last fight [a second round KO of Poland’s Artur Szpilka] he went out there with a point to prove and showed us he’s still world class.’’

Parker has arrived in Las Vegas to start a training camp for the Chisora fight.
