Kearney has no issue with George

COWBOYS v BULLDOGS

Warriors coach Stephen Kearney says there are no issues between himself and chief executive Cameron George, insisting they are ‘‘150 per cent’’ on the same page as the club looks to end a disappointing campaign on a high.

The pair were in the headlines during the lead-up to last week’s loss to the Sharks after George questioned the effort of certain players and suggested he may consider moving some on following a review.

That prompted a response from Kearney to leave public comments on football matters to him.

The coach relayed that message to George last week and any differences between the two have been ironed out, with Kearney saying they both want what’s best for the club.

‘‘I understand where Cam’s coming from. The one thing I love about Cameron is he’s very passionate about our footy club and he wants our footy club to improve and be better and play semifinal footy,’’ Kearney said.

‘‘. . . it’s been put to bed. It’s all sorted.’’

Kearney said the pair enjoyed a robust working relationship based on openness and honesty.

‘‘Cameron tells it how it is sometimes and that’s the way we both operate,’’ he added.

‘‘We’ve got on well, it’s a mutual respect for each other’s passion and what we want for our footy club.’’

Kearney’s focus has centred on fixing the team’s brittle defence and battered confidence ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against South Sydney after a dismal month that has seen the Warriors’ finals hopes disappear.

defeat as they leaked more than 40 points for the third time in the past four games. However, he’s refrained from making wholesale changes.

Kearney has recalled Kodi Nikorima to start in the halves alongside Blake Green against Souths, although the latter will be assessed after today’s captain’s run before being confirmed in the side.

Green twisted a knee against the Sharks.
