Travelsmart are the smart travel choice

- Kathy Graham

Helping people tick boxes off their travel bucket list has earned Travelsmart Palmerston North a couple of awards.

Travelsmart travel co-ordinator Margaret Scott said the team were delighted to bring home Travelsmart Top Shop awards for the Globus Family of Brands, and for Covermore Insurance, from their national conference in Christchurch.

‘‘We owe these to our clients for entrusting us with their travel plans, so a big thank you must go to them.’’

Customers are their focus and providing them with the most cost-effective, hassle-free travel possible, is their priority. ‘‘It’s all about building relationships with people and finding what fits them, as well as understanding what they want to achieve,’’ Margaret adds.

For local travellers considering touring holidays within New Zealand, ‘‘There are several very good coach companies if you don’t want to do the driving; it’s a great way see the country and you learn so much. It comes back to that old saying, don’t leave town until you’ve seen the country.’’

Even after 16 years in the industry, experienced traveller Margaret still has some of her own boxes to tick off. She’s travelled from Cape Reinga to Bluff and has been past Stewart Island on a ship, ‘‘but I haven’t actually stepped foot on it, yet!’’

Globus is a popular choice for travellers in Europe, Asia, North and South America. It is the world’s most highly-awarded tour operator based in Switzerland. The group, which offers escorted tours, river cruises and independent travel, has been planning holidays for people for 91 years. Brands include Globus, Cosmos, Cosmos Lite, Avalon Waterways and Monograms.

‘‘Monograms are basically city stays, packaged together with rail travel between each city, but go beyond the basics as you will have the services of a local host to enhance and personalise your experience,’’ says Margaret.

‘‘If you are starting to plan your 2020 itinerary, then head in to see us Travelsmart in Terrace End as the 2020 brochures for Globus are expected in the next few weeks.’’

Insurance is an essential part of all travel, too. ‘‘It may seem like an extra expense, but it’s one you hope you don’t ever have to use. We have multiple insurance providers so that we can match up who is best for each client.’’
