■ Earlier closing times is not going to stop violence, it is going to lead to a big influx of people on the same time and more fights. Out of touch councillors have no idea what is happening on the streets! Don’t ruin a bit of revelry you prudes.

■ Re Ma¯ori wards, how dare our socalled elected councillors ignore us the ratepayers who voted this out. Question for them: Will they take a pay cut to pay for them?

■ Heard a very welcome little whisper that Pioneer Highway shopping centre is getting its postal facilities back ... Great news for the locals!

■ Instead of giving members of the public, going about their business, officious ‘‘move on’’ orders during the Climate Change protest on Friday, perhaps police would have been better served to give those taking part a polite instruction to pick up the litter, thereby setting an example.
