Fitness expertWillie has a big heart

-

This week’s Good Bloke Award goes to Willie Haumono of Otara.

He’s nominated by Raymond Mcpherson, who writes:

‘‘Willie has a passion for the wellbeing of a person and fitness works alongside this as obesity and health is a big problem in our community.

‘‘Through the artform of boxing and training there’s been a group training together under the name ‘Team Haumono Wellbeing and Fitness’ based at the Otara Pool and Leisure Centre.

‘‘It trains on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am to 12pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 7pm and is for all ages and sexes.

‘‘All classes are a $2 koha (donation), which goes to Willie at the end of every month to help toward costs.

‘‘It’s not much money but some people can’t pay all the time.

‘‘I’m sending this nomination on behalf of our team for a man with a big, soft heart, who’s willing to help others.’’
