Post Office delivers
The recently opened Post Office Public House has quickly made friends in the Airport Oaks area.
Since its total refurbishment in the old Toby’s Jug location, a cool, casual but classy establishment has emerged, full of natural light!
The Post Office is perfect for any occasion, serving up high quality, barista-made coffee and biscotti for a small set price; boasting 13 tap beers and three tap ciders; a carefully chosen range of bottled beers, wines and many low alcohol options!
The new home-made menu caters for everything from quick snacks to seriously good dining. Malcolm, the head chef, brings 15 years’ experience to the kitchen – plus an obvious appreciation of what patrons like. Most of the food is prepared from scratch in-house including cold smoked mussels and salmon; smoked in the courtyard in an old oak wine barrel.
From spicy beef cheek tacos and smoked salmon salad to platters, juicy eye fillets, venison pie and fresh snapper; the dinner menu caters for a variety of appetites and tastes. A separate lunch menu includes nachos, open steak sammies and a Vietnamese grilled chicken salad.
The motto is ‘Service with a smile’ and the lunch meals are on the table within 15-20 minutes, so if you’ve got limited time you’ll still enjoy a good meal, with table service being quick and friendly.
Owner Andy and his team have been very welcoming of feedback and are prepared to make changes based on good suggestions. It’s a culture that has helped turn first-time patrons into regulars, knowing it’s a place that goes the ‘extra mile’.
Manager Dan says it’s pleasing to see how well different groups have reacted to the new Post Office vibe and what it offers. They’re also looking at creating genuine Family Day Sundays in the summer, with plenty of board games for families to enjoy!
The Post Office easily accommodates both bar leaners and sit-down tables with well-defined spaces so you can enjoy your own company. A VIP lounge area seats 30 for functions or more standing.
