Plenty on to watch despite no Warriors

-

‘‘League is never far from my life, so I did sneak away to catch up with a couple of old friends, and formerWarriors.’’

having said that, it was a tight one and there was much to like about the Eels too. The Roosters beat Brisbane, so this week the Storm and Roosters get to put their feet up, while the Panthers meet the Broncos, and the Cowboys face the Eels.

My InTrust side kept my interest alive, facing the Newcastle Knights in their elimination final. They were leading 12-0 at halftime but to be fair it was tense, with the Knights refusing to lie down in the second 40 but we stuck to our task and scored at crucial times to run out comfortable 30-6 winners, to book a spot in the semi against the Wyong Roos.

I still managed to find my way to an armchair so I could watch the All Blacks against Argentina too. There is something about the All Blacks machine that just seems to go up a gear in the second 40, and so it proved yet again.

That is not a criticism you could level at the Silver Ferns, conquerors of the Aussies the other day, but beaten 49-46 in the netball series by England, to send the series into a decider. Sport needs the intensity of close competition to be at its best, and netball is one of those games that has it in abundance. The decider will be played in Hamilton on Wednesday. And I can still say go the Mighty Vodafone Warriors, even if it is at InTrust level.
