A look at Ma¯ngere’s electorate
The Ma¯ngere electorate is home to some of New Zealand’s youngest residents.
While most are aged 30-49 years at 25.4 per cent, the second biggest age group is 5-14 years at 18.6 per cent, followed by 20-29 years at 15.3 per cent.
The median age of the electorate is 27 years.
According to Parliament’s electorate profile data, 38 per cent of people aged 15 or older work fulltime, 8.7 per cent work part-time, while 8.1 per cent are unemployed.
In terms of home ownership, 34.1 per cent of the electorate’s residents own their own home, while 44.1 per cent pay rent.
The largest ethnic group in the electorate is Pacific, at 60.3 per cent, with European the next largest, at 20 per cent, followed by Maori, 15.2 per cent, and Asian, 16.9 per cent.
The electorate’s income is $53,000.
When it comes to family incomes, the largest percentage of people, at 22.6 per cent, chose not to specify their salary figures.
The second largest group, at 15.3 per cent, said their family median income was $70,001-$100,000, followed by 12.9 per cent of people at more than $100,001, and 6.7 per cent at $50,001-$60,000, and $40,001-$50,000.
In 2014, Aupito William Sio from the Labour Party won with 18,908 votes (72.5 per cent).
