Cavaliers’ perfect record a target

- ALAN APTED

Manurewa Rugby Gold will get a crack at blotting Southern Cavaliers’ perfect Regional Premier Netball League season tomorrow.

The former and reigning champions face off at the Auckland Netball Centre, Glen Innes in what’s being billed at the match of the round.

Manurewa are consoling themselves after a 57-51 loss to Southern Souls last Friday and they know that with just three rounds remaining, this game represents their last chance to play their way back into contention.

Southern Cavaliers dismantled Aztec 1 by 20 points last Friday and will go into the match as favourites.

Southern Souls, the only team in division one keeping pace with Cavaliers, take on Mangere Hawks, who went down 62-50 to Mellons Bay.

The Hawks were below strength for the match with their talisman, former Silver Fern centre Temepara Bailey, missing. Southern Souls know they’ll have a game on their hands if Bailey should take the court.

Three unbeaten teams, Manurewa Rugby Black, Conifer Grove Platinum and Revelation Titans, dominate division two.

But that will change tomorrow night with Conifer Grove and the Titans playing each other. Manurewa Rugby, who beat Marlins Platinum 58-45 last Friday, play Aztec 2.
