Police are appealing for sightings of a purple van allegedly involved in an attempted kidnapping of a 13-year-old in Manurewa. Detective Senior Sergeant Shaun Vickers, of Manurewa CIB, says the girl was on her way to school at about 7am on November 14. On Burndale Terrace she was allegedly approached by two white men in a purple van with tinted windows. No other descriptio­n of the men or vehicle were available. ‘‘The van has stopped on Burndale Terrace, the driver has asked her to get in the van,’’ Vickers says. ‘‘When she refused a second male approached the victim and tried to pull her into the van.’’ Vickers says the girl broke free and fled to safety at a nearby Caltex petrol station.
