NO DETERRENCE

-

Our local dairy owner was recently violently assaulted and robbed. The persons who assaulted him made a frenzied attack on him resulting in his having to be hospitalized. He was carrying out a service to the community by running a legitimate business. The points I would like to make are; our present so-called justice system makes no provision for physical punishment to be inflicted on the person who commits an assault no matter how badly or viciously it is done (when there was capital punishment in NZ there were about four murders a year, now it is a weekly occurrence. It is my belief that the deterrence has gone). People who commit violent crime should be deported if they are not NZ citizens, Take a leaf out of the Aussies book. We don’t need or want them here.

motive hauled carriage trains which Auckland Transport own, along with building new stations and large park and rides at Drury and Kumeu. There needs to be a program of building roundabouts at intersections wherever possible, and removing on-ramp traffic lights on motorways and installing tolling gantries on motorway on-ramps instead. Focus needs to be made on developing the heavy rail network, such as building a heavy rail line from Puhinui to the Airport and to build rail-only tunnels under the Waitemata Harbour and converting the Northern Busway into a heavy rail line. Heavy rail has it’s own separate congestion free corridors and can move more people, more quickly, using less land space than any other transport mode, and by building rail-only tunnels and heavy rail to the North Shore, there would be reduced need for road tunnels, thus halving the cost the second harbour crossing project and potentially enabling a quicker start.

Should window washers face bans or fines?

and Auckland Council are so concerned with stopping this money making activity, yes activity is the clue word, while beggars are permitted to lie in shop doorways begging for money, and making a filthy mess and doing nothing to gain handouts. Yes working to gain a few dollars is illegal, but to do nothing and beg for money is allowed. What sort of message is this giving our social misfits?
