Nelmac Garden Marlborough may be a few months away but organisers are already fizzing over the latest addition to the lineup.

Fergus Garrett, the head gardener at world-famous British garden Great Dixter, which was first created by gardening writer Christopher Lloyd, is set to bring his expertise to Marlborough.

Longstanding Nelmac Garden Marlborough committee member Carolyn Ferraby, who has heard Fergus speak at international events on several occasions, says she is delighted to have him on board.

‘‘Not only is Fergus one of the garden world’s foremost plantsmen, but his knowledge and passion are contagious, and he’s extremely entertaining.

‘‘He’s unquestionably the strongest international guest speaker we’ve ever brought here,’’ Carolyn says.

Influential garden blogger Frogend Dweller said she loved Fergus’ hand-drawn sketches illustrating gardening techniques.

‘‘If you get a chance to hear Fergus Garrett speak, grab it. You won’t regret it,’’ she says.

Nelmac Garden Marlborough is one of New Zealand’s premier garden events and runs from November 9-12.

Tickets go on sale at the end of June at gardenmarlborough.co.nz
