WE SAY:

The Redwoodtown post shop is still waiting to be re-homed, despite promises it would move to a different location. Redwoodtown resident Alison Turner said she "missed the service terribly". "It was so handy, I loved having it, now everything I send is a little bit late because it’s not as easy to access." Do you miss the post shop?

YOU SAY:

I really miss it. All my children live away and I used to pop down to Redwoodown and send them parcels. Now I have to go to town or Springlands and it’s a major expedition. I’ve only sent one parcel since the closure and have several still waiting because it’s such a hassle.

AND

YOU SAY:

It was so handy when we needed it. I could walk to Redwoodtown and now I have to take the car into town with hassles over parking etc. Although I could use the mailbox for small items, I’d now go into town, or Springlands, to ensure the parcels get to their destination. Has anybody else noticed the final sentence on the notice? It reads "Thanks for your support’’. Was it a sign that it wouldn’t be replaced?

2. WE SAY:

It’s been one year since Milk & More started delivering to homes in the region, saving 120,000 plastic bottles from going to Blenheim landfill. They are taking customers "back to the old ways", and manager Mel Marshall says "all they want to do is have a chat. It’s like the good old days. If they can’t carry the milk inside then we’ll put it inside for them." Do you get your milk delivered? Do you enjoy the chats that come with it?

YOU SAY:

I have been getting this milk delivered. Great product and great service!

AND

YOU SAY:

We just love this service and the milk. We’ve been getting it since it started. Thank you!

3. WE SAY:

The NZ Transport Agency is proposing that the speed limit between Blenheim and Nelson be reduced to 80 km/h. Would you support this change?

POLL RESULTS:

80.7 per cent responded with ‘‘No the trip would be too long’’, 14.3 per cent responded with ‘‘Yes - safety first’’, and 5 per cent responded with ‘‘Other - leave in comments’’.

AND

YOU SAY:

It is already a restricted route with some areas making discerning motorists reduce speed anyway. Further restricting the speed limit would only cause frustration and cause even more accidents. Driver training may be a better option!

AND

YOU SAY:

The most dangerous, accident prone area is between Rai Valley and Hira, the Whangamoas, through which most sensible people do not drive at 100 km/h, so why reduce the speed on the open road? Yes, I can see the point of restricting speed in built up areas, but surely it is not necessary to reduce speed in all other areas. I can see a lot more frustrated drivers, including truckies, and can you imagine the resulting chaos in passing lanes?

AND YOU SAY:

If trucks and cars are traveling at the same speed, I can see some big accidents when trucks try to pass slow cars. Also, most of the road is okay at 100 km/h, so why reduce the speed on a perfectly good section of road? They should just slow the bad parts, some of which are not suitable for even 80 km/h.

4. WE SAY:

The new library and art gallery will replace the green Liquorland and blue Warehouse Stationery buildings at the end of High St. What should the council do with the existing library and millennium art gallery sites?

YOU SAY:

More money wasted as we already have a library and we don’t need an art gallery. Spend the money on stuff we need!

AND

YOU SAY:

I’m all for moving forward into the modern world but did the ratepayers have any say in these big projects? After all, it is our money being used and I haven’t

PRIDE VINES LTD even used the theatre, nor will I use the art museum. I belong to the library but use it online.

AND

YOU SAY:

It would be nice to turn the old library into a community organisations hub with meeting spaces, a seminar room, and some offices for community services.

AND

YOU SAY:

The Picton library is great, and I hope the new one is as good. However, when they built the WINZ building nearby, they had awful difficulty in finding good foundations due to the river being so close.

I hope council has done due diligence on this one?

AND

YOU SAY:

My concern is parking. The previous businesses did not provide much space for customers.

5. WE SAY:
