Sub-par not enough

-

On a normal day, Lydia Ko’s fourunder round of 67 at the Arkansas Championship was a good showing. But the Kiwi world No 2’s efforts were blown away by world No 3 So Yeon Ryu, who tied her career-best round with a 10-under 61 at the Pinnacle Country Club. The South Korean carded 10 birdies in a flawless round to move to 16-under for the tournament. The round broke the 18-hole record at the tournament, while she also broke the tournament’s 36-hole record. She will take a five-shot lead into the final day, with Moriya Jutanugarn and Stacy Lewis both on 11-under. It made Ko’s round look rather pedestrian, although the 20-yearold did well to salvage something from her day after starting slowly. She was even par through her first 12 holes after starting on the back nine, but birdied five of her last six holes as she moved to five-under in a tie for 20th.
