Clean sweeps feature on court

Clean sweeps were the order of the night when the third round of play in Marlboroug­h Volleyball’s Fairweathe­rs’ Spring League was completed on Thursday evening.

Although Uso were low on player numbers at Marlboroug­h Lines Stadium, this didn’t stop them from dominating Defying Gravity. Some good rallies eventuated and both teams enjoyed themselves. However with Defying Gravity missing their usual competitiv­e edge, Uso won all three sets 25-17, 25-20 and 25-11.

dominating the hitting, as Cri Clovers scored a hat-trick win against Treefellas 25-17, 25-20 and a very close third set 28-26.

Fairweathe­rs played Dank Lords in a titanic, point-for-point tussle, each set coming down to the final five points. Strong defence from Dank Lords’ Josh Wilson and Cameron Alexander was not quite enough as Fairweathe­rs prevailed 25-21, 25-20 and 25-21.

In B grade, The Avengers struggled at the start of their game against a very competitiv­e QCC, sparked by father and son Dave and Callum Nicholson, before pulling away 25-22, 25-16, 15-9.
