Uso leading the way

Uso, last year’s runners-up, continued to set the pace at the halfway stage of Marlboroug­h Volleyball’s Fairweathe­rs’ Spring League.

On Thursday evening at Marlboroug­h Lines Stadium 2000, Uso downed Cri Clovers 3-0 in the last game of the evening.

Uso were relentless in the first set, winning it 25-17. However, Cri Clovers stepped up their serving, led by Paul O’Donnell, and held an edge on the scoreboard for the majority of the second set until Uso came out hitting hard to steal the win 25-22. Strong serving by both sides was a feature of this fast-paced game, with not many long rallies eventuatin­g as Uso completed a clean sweep by taking out the final set, 25-22.

The best game of the evening was a fluctuatin­g contest between Defying Gravity and Dank Lords, won by the former 25-20 19-25 18-10.
