Ferns lose to US

The Football Ferns’ were outscored but not outclassed in their 3-1 loss to the United States in Denver on Saturday. Two goals from Julie Ertz had the hosts in front at halftime at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, but Hannah Wilkinson hit back with 15 minutes remaining to set up a tense finish, only for Alex Morgan to then restore her side’s two-goal lead five minutes later. Wilkinson has now scored the Ferns’ last three goals against the US, who are ranked No 1 in the world.
