Consultation

-

Recently we received from the Marlborough District Council a consultation document on the Taylor River Floodway Reserve Recreation and Amenity Plan. The booklet runs to 40 plus pages.

This on the surface appears to suggest that the council values the opinions of Blenheim residents.

It is a real shame that the council has not afforded the same level of consultation when it comes to the proposed pyrolysis plant at the Bluegums Landfill on Taylor Pass Road.

It is very evident that the council wants to keep this issue well away from the gaze of Blenheim residents. If this pyrolysis plant is given resource consent, will this be yet another case of council ‘‘cock-up’’ when it comes to looking after the people it purports to represent.

Blenheim ratepayers money in a 1080 poison factory near Christchurch? This is in spite of 96 per cent of their ratepayers being against 1080!

I note OSPRI is dumping 1080 over the public’s Molesworth Station, of course with DOC’s blessing. But then DOC is ‘‘manager’’ of Molesworth. Strange Molesworth is the only Tb infected farm in Marlborough. Which goes of show how ignorant and incompetent DOC must be.

Blenheim happening here in New Zealand. Today, with the terrorist threat even more real, is it appropriate to celebrate another act of terrorism?
