Storm upset leading team

Forrest Marlboroug­h Storm pulled off an upsetin the latest round of Allan Scott Premier League tennis.

Fifth-placed Storm narrowly tipped over league leaders Grove Tavern Grovetown in round eight on Wednesday evening

In the men’s doubles, Storm’s Hamish Morrow and Rhys Blackmore got the team off to a good start, beating Brendon Sutherland and Nick Winter 6-4, 6-0. Grovetown pulled one back in the mixed doubles as Josh Winter and Ella Williams defeated Ivan Fedo and Amber Lyons 6-1, 6-3. In the singles, Storm took out the top two men’s matches with Morrow defeating Sutherland 6-2, 6-0 and Blackmore beating Josh Winter 6-1, 6-0. Grovetown evened things up with Nick Winter prevailing over Fedo 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the number three matchup and Williams overcoming Lyons 6-2, 6-3 in the women’s tie to leave the score locked at three all, six sets apiece, Storm taking out the contest by 54 games to 44.

In the second match at the Forrest Winery Tennis Centre Rapaura Constellat­ion notched a comfortabl­e 5-1 win over the Forrest Marlboroug­h Bullets while, at the Rapaura grass courts, Renwick narrowly defeated the home side Rapaura Drylands 7 sets to 6 after scores had been tied at three matches all.

As a result of their convincing win, Rapaura Constellat­ion jumped into a share of the lead with Grovetown on 72 points.
