Charming Parker in fine fettle
If Joseph Parker can handle Anthony Joshua like he can a crowd, then he’s a good chance in Sunday’s world heavyweight unification fight.
Mind you, he was in friendly territory rather than facing a giant, snarling Brit when he fronted around 150 guests and expats at New Zealand House in London yesterday.
Parker was full of humour and information as he went through a half hour of question and answers.
He was a charming host as he mixed and mingled before and after his time with the microphone, looking relaxed and comfortable just days out from the huge assignment at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The evening came a couple of hours after Parker had shown off his sharp skills in the training ring in front of a group of lucky Kiwis who had not long stepped off a plane from New Zealand.
Parker said the day had been a timely reminder of the support he enjoys from his home fans.
‘‘It’s a humbling experience coming here,’’ the 26-year-old aid.
‘‘It’s been great to get away from the hotel and relax and just to see the support. People have gathered here to listen and to hang out, just to show their support and their love.
‘‘There are actually a lot of people from New Zealand and Samoa here for the fight. What a great way for people to show their support by flying all the way here. It just gives me extra drive and
