Koepka to ‘childish’ Garcia: Grow up
complain. Everybody’s got to play the same golf course. I didn’t play very good, but you didn’t really see anybody else doing that.
‘‘I mean, you’re 40 years old, so you’ve got to grow up eventually.’’
Garcia was disqualified for ‘‘serious misconduct’’, a littleused ruling, but has faced no further sanction from the European Tour, raising questions over whether a lesser-known player would have been treated more severely.
It is far from Garcia’s first temper tantrum on the course. He was infamously caught spitting into a cup after missing a par putt at the Doral tournament in Florida in 2010.
Just the day before he damaged greens he was caught on camera lashing out at a bunker after a poor shot.
Koepka said it was not a good look and showed no respect to fellow players.
‘‘It’s frustrating as a player to see. To act like that, the disrespect to everybody, to act like a child out there is not cool,’’ Koepka said.
‘‘It’s not setting a good example and it’s not cool to us, showing us no respect.’’
