Hunt hits out at UFC

-

He may have lost his battle against the UFC but Kiwi combat sports legend Mark Hunt has not gone down quietly.

Hunt’s long legal fight against the UFC has come to an end after a judge at a US district court in Nevada ruled the final part of the lawsuit in favour of the world’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion.

The ‘Super Samoan’ filed a lawsuit against the UFC, the organisation’s president Dana White and former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in January 2017 after it was revealed that Lesnar failed a drug test prior to their bout in 2016.

Hunt alleged that the UFC conspired with Lesnar to avoid anti-doping rules which allowed him to compete and sought millions of dollars in damages.

Hunt’s claims were dismissed in February, apart from ‘‘a single charge of breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing’’, according to MMA Junkie. But after that ruling also recently went against him, Hunt did not hold back in blasting the UFC.

‘‘I tried to make things even on the battlefield of MMA but again the cheating company . . . with all its billions they ripped everyone off win again’’ the former K-1 kickboxing champion wrote on Instagram.

In July 2016, Hunt suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Lesnar at UFC 200, which was later overturned to a no-contest.

Lesnar was found to have tested positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene, with the test collected 11 days before the fight.

Hunt left the UFC last December after a decision defeat to Justin Willis in Adelaide. The 45-year-old has not fought since then.
