Cake stalls begin Plunket appeal

-

Plunket Appeal Month is happening nationwide in March and each Plunket area is encouraged to come up with its own ways to fundraise.

This year Matamata Plunket will be holding cake stalls outside BNZ Bank on Wednesday, February 29, and Friday, March 2, from 9am until 12pm.

Lots of yummy treats baked by Matamata Plunket committee members will be for sale.

A baby gear sale will also be held at the Market Day at Matamata Primary on Saturday, March 10.

Committee member Janelle Burnside said so far the community had been wonderful, donating baby gear to sell.

‘‘Everything from cots to clothing, toys to linen. Grab a fantastic bargain while supporting your Plunket,’’ she said.

Mrs Burnside said Plunket would also be doing some door knocking around some streets in Matamata.

‘‘So if we come to you please be generous,’’ she said.

So what the funds towards?

With all the heavy rain lately the Plunket rooms roof has been leaking so repairs are needed.

‘‘We will also be replacing some carpet that has been damaged over the years from the leaks,’’ Mrs Burnside said. There was also a storage area which needed a completely new roof.
