Theft lowest of low, say police

Sergeant Graham Mcgurk has a strong message for the person or people who stole a special needs computer from Matamata College on Tuesday, February 21 – ‘‘you are the lowest of the low’’.

A black Toshiba laptop with specialise­d equipment needed for the special needs student was taken.

‘‘ This sort of thing just makes me so angry,’’ Mr Mcgurk said.

‘‘This computer is useless to anyone else so do the decent thing and give it back.’’

A 20- year- old man was arrested for theft from a supermarke­t

A vehicle was stopped on Smith St and a 17-year-old forbidden driver had his car impounded.

Police set up a checkpoint on Hinuera Rd and a 61-year- old man was processed excess breath alcohol.

Police attended a serious domestic at an address in Rawhiti Ave where a passing security officer and off-duty ambulance driver assisted the victim.

A 17-year-old youth had his licence suspended.

A 17-year-old youth and a 23- year- old woman were charged with the burglary of a Rangiora Ave address.

A 22- year- old man was arrested and charged with disqualifi­ed driving, sustained loss of traction and damage of a maize paddock.

A 26- year- old man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly at Matamata Racecourse. A few hours after being released by police, he was arrested again.

A 16-year-old youth was removed from Matamata Racecourse following an altercatio­n.

Two 15- year- old youths were removed from Matamata Racecourse.

The theft of a handbag was reported to police at Matamata Racecourse and police have been able to identify the suspect.

Police attended a domestic incident at an address at Tetley St. A police safety order was issued. A few hours later police returned to the address following a breach of the order and a 31-year-old man was arrested.

An Alexander Rd address was broken into and the offenders fled the scene after the alarm was activated.

4.51pm: Attended a road accident on SH29 at Piarere.

4.22pm: Responded to an alarm activation on Tetley St.

3.09am: Responded to an alarm at Waharoa factory.
