Zealand managing director Steve Anderson said: ‘‘This is the third year our New World stores have been supporting the campaign. We’re really pleased to be able to do our part in helping the Stroke Foundation to raise awareness of the link between high blood pressure and stroke by providing the locations for these free tests.’’

‘‘Being 100 per cent New Zealand owned and operated, each of our stores is an integral part of their local community.

‘‘That’s why we’re calling on Matamata residents to pop down to New World Matamata on Saturday, May 12 for a free, fast and painless blood pressure check,’’ said Mr Anderson.

Information about blood pressure and other risk factors for stroke will be provided during the check and people with raised blood pressure will be referred to their GPS for medical advice and treatment.

A full list of nationwide testing sites is available at www.stroke.org.nz.

Most sites will offer the free blood pressure tests between 10am and 2pm but may operate for longer.
