Invaders attack homeowner

Police are investigating an incident in Waharoa, where a man woke up during the night and was confronted by two men in his kitchen.

One of the offenders lashed out, kicking the man several times, before both offenders fled.

Nothing was taken. It appears the offenders had kicked in a door to enter the property.

Police are following lines of inquiry in relation to this incident. Within a short time of each other, a 64-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were dealt with for shoplifting at a local supermarket. A 20-year-old man will be appearing in the Morrinsville District Court charged with driving with excess blood alcohol. A 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged in relation to a robbery that occurred the previous weekend. A 21-year-old man was arrested appear in court that day.

At 6.30pm a 23-year-old man had his car impounded and will be appearing in Morrinsville District Court after police saw him doing a burnout on Broadway. In the early hours, police received a report of two people being assaulted by a man. As a result, a 23-year-old man was spoken to and arrested.
