Police lay multiple charges

At 7pm a 25-year-old man was arrested for disorderly behaviour, assaulting police, intentiona­l damage and possession of utensils after police were called to a College St address. ated on Station Rd. A witness saw the car being left there and four youths attempting to set it on fire. When the witness went to investigat­e the offenders ran off. Police attended the following morning and found a cellphone in the car. Inquiries revealed that the phone had been taken from an Ashworth Pl address that was later establishe­d to have been burgled. Police believe all incidents are connected. They urge the public to contact police straight away when they see or hear suspicious behaviour. Matamata Police operate 24/7.

An electric scooter was taken from an address on Brown St and found on Elizabeth St.

A 20-year-old youth was arrested and charged for driving with excess breath alcohol. He also had his car impounded for sustained loss of traction under the Boy Racer Act.

Police are investigat­ing the burglary of a Bedford Cr address where laptops, a TV and a Playstatio­n were taken overnight.
